Hello!

Kathymuggle here

Cool - new smilies to play with ( I am so off topic)

For those of you not from MDC, a brief intro:

I have 3 children (6, 10, 13) and the 10 year old is definitely gifted. I am inclined to think my oldest is as well - he did not test as gifted, but he does not test well, lol. There may be some 2E issues as well (dysgraphia and ADHD - but those could be misdiagnosises) - in any event, if they exist they are mild.

We Homeschool.

We are in Canada.

I am ticked off at MDC. Shutting down the forum - what for???? The only valid reason I can think of is if they are genuinely looing for a mod with gifted experience - otherwise I see no reason why the issues cannot be resolved while the forum is up.

I did send off a post to "Questions and answers" asking for an update about an hour ago - it will be interesting to see if they post it.

I do not think the gifted forum is cliqueish at all - I hang out on several forums and I know some of you do as well.

Hello to everyone,

I'm so glad to see all these new gifted parents here. I'm a single mum of gifted twin boys age 4 - so you'll probably understand my rather sporadic posting pattern I was an original refugee from the SENG boards and am delighted that Icon and the regulars here have kept board this going and growing. It is an open and free environment to speak and refeshingly free of the infighting. I do try to keep up even though I don't respond to as many posts as I'd like to. Looking forward to some busy posts in the parents area.

Hi and welcome!

You may have just inspired a new topic. I've noticed that when some people don't quite follow the flow of the conversation (or to put it frankly can't keep up with the pace of it), they can sometimes perceive a deliberate cliqueishness or intent to exclude them when there isn't one. Whilst you're speaking of getting a gifted moderator, perhaps the problem is that the ones you have now feel like too much is going over their heads?

Not to mention that gifted people on a gifted forum led by people who are not themselves gifted tend to get a little impatient and take charge for themselves. Not that I ever went behind the administration of SENG and got things set up the way that I thought worked better for the gifted members. Well, OK, so I may have been a little bad.

Okay I'm going to shamelessly use this thread to complain about issues on the other board.

Note that I think I am perfectly capable of being active on both boards and therefore don't consider visiting the other board in any way harmful to this one.

Has anyone else noticed that posts keep disapearing within threads. Our threads no longer seem to be getting moved. But I keep going back to look for a specific post in a thread and it's no longer there. For example in the "Giftedness inherited from you/DP/both? " thread someone had linked to an old 2006 thread about the value of identifying gifted children. It was an interesting read. When I went back to the inherited thread to find it again, not wanting to search for it the post was missing. When I was reading the "HG, MG, PG, how did you decide which label to use? " thread someone mentioned reading a members blog. When I went back to look for that post because I was looking for directions to the blog (always on the lookout for new blogs) the post was completely missing.

Are posts that take converstaions Off Topic being removed? Am I the only whose noticed?

I had a post removed. I had quoted another post, which was removed, and they basically removed every post that quoted that one, etc. The original post that I quoted really should have been removed, though. It was quite rude.

I'm beginning to spend less and less time on MDC gifted children's forum. Mostly it's because for right now, my kids issues are good, for now, unless things get problematic at school.

I need an adult forum for MY issues stemming from my own giftedness. That's why I prefer to hang out here. I love the adult, thought-provoking dicussions we have here. I'd love to see more people start new topics however (hint, hint).
