I want to throw down the gauntlet in this thread with a series of puzzle challenges constructed for your enjoyment or excruciation. First one to solve the puzzle gets a virtual feather in their thinking cap.

PUZZLE #1

"sponged" fits the spelling criteria, but the definition isn't quite on target.

That's it Icon, in this case the right answer was WRONG(ED)!

PUZZLE #2

The word CARAMEL when broken into two pieces results in the consecutive names of a woman and a man -- CARA + MEL. Can you think of another seven-letter word that when broken into two pieces results in the consecutive names of a woman and a man? HINT: The names begin with R and B, respectively.
